HBB-80341
Grumman's F6F "Hellcat" carrier-based fighter was used to replace the US Navy's earlier F 4F "Wildcat". This newly designed aircraft is powered by a powerful 2,000-horsepower Pratt & Whitney R-2800 engine. The "Hellcat" was the first U.S. Navy aircraft capable of fully countering the Japanese "Zero" fighter. The Hellcat is the most successful fighter jet in U.S. Navy history, with 5,271 enemy aircraft shot down during its service with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.
